Marcia Ives
Marcia grew up on Prince Edward Island, Canada. She holds a degree in Modern Languages and describes her knack with creating memorable events as her ‘sixth sense'. In 1993, she moved to The Netherlands, learned Dutch and continued to feed her passion for culture, food, photograpy and travel while working in the hospitality industry.
Alongside Marcia's vast MICE industry knowledge, her personal trademarks are creativity, flexibility and dedication to her clients and their audiences.
From 1999 to 2017 she filled different project management roles at a listed financial services company, of which the last 12 years as event manager and communication adviser. She has produced countless meetings and events for the enterprise as well as for her portfolio of business partners such as the World Press Photo Foundation, Foam Fotografiemuseum, AFC Ajax, Johan Cruijff Arena Amsterdam, SAIL Amsterdam, VNO NCW West, the Dutch Sailing Association and HISWA te Water.
In 2019, Marcia was recruited by HelmsBriscoe to join their global team of meeting procurement experts, dedicated to matching clients' meetings to the ideal venue. Being an independent in the MICE industry allows her to divide her time across a broad range of activities and interests.
Marcia resides in Leiden with her partner, daughter and dog. When she isn't working, you may find her cooking in her tiny kitchen, listening to music or roaming about with her camera. At least once a year she visits her family home in Canada, where she stays in the little house shown here.
